Lancashire Child & Youth Justice Service Skelmersdale
Lancashire Volunteer Partnership are recruiting volunteers in the Skelmersdale area to become Panel Members for the Lancashire Child & Youth Justice Service (LCYJS). If you are aged 18 or above, local to the area, have the time available and want to help make a difference to children in your local community, we want to hear from you!
How do volunteers support the work of LCYJS?
Volunteers create a positive link between the community and the children who access LCYJS services.
Supporting social workers and LCYJS workers to help children aged 10 – 18 years, towards living a safe and crime-free life and make a positive contribution to society. Community referral order panels, allows children to recognise the consequences of their offending and to be accountable for their actions through a restorative approach. They help children to co-produce a contract specifying the support and activities they will take part in during their court order.
Days & Times
Sessions are daily between 10:30am – 12:00 noon or 16:00 – 17:00
This opportunity requires a long term commitment to the role, applicants must be able to support on one of the days listed at one of the times shown, either weekly or fortnightly.
Tasks:
- Volunteers must be over the age of 18
- Able to complete a full DBS clearance (for more details about our policy on criminal convictions please contact us) DBS funded by LCYJS.
- Provide at least 2 references who have known the applicant for over 2 years and are not family/relatives
- Commitment for a minimum of 2-3 hours monthly in SKELMERSDALE. Additional adhoc attendance to panel meetings may be requested if cover is needed
- This is not a student placement and 12 months commitment will be required
- Programme of comprehensive training to be completed during your time as a volunteer. Training will be face to face and online.

Training:
Please be advised that there will be a training commitment. To support and strengthen your induction training you will need to complete a number of eLearning modules. You will not be able to begin volunteering with LCYJS until all necessary training is completed.
