Group Support – Children & Family Wellbeing

We are seeking volunteers to help to deliver a dynamic youth work programme to the young people of West Lancashire.  You’ll be supporting a committed and exciting team of experienced staff and  helping to increase the range off opportunities available.

No previous youth work experience is necessary as this opportunity is ideal for people who are in training to work with teenagers in a professional capacity (and who would like to gain experience of this) or someone interested in giving back to their community

All volunteers will need to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure and be willing to sign up to the Lancashire volunteering policy and undertake planned training and planning/review sessions to help develop practice.

Youth Council

Wednesday 6:30pm-9:30pm centre based

A group for young people who would like to be involved in making a difference in their local community, whilst engaging in fun and enjoyable sessions.

Prism – LGBTQIA+

Thursday 6:30pm-9:30pm centre based

12 to 19 years (up to 25 with SEND)

An opportunity for young people from historically marginalised communities to come together and access support to explore views, opinions and feelings around living within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Connect – Community Safe Spaces

Friday 6:30pm-9:30pm centre based

12 to 19 years (up to 25 with SEND)

This group welcomes teenagers and supports them to build their confidence and self-esteem, develop life skills and independence as well as helping with social/communication skills. Discussions on current topics affecting young people, games, etc.

We are seeking volunteers to assist, under supervision, members of staff, to help those who access our services.

These opportunities will give a volunteer the chance to:

  • Gain experience from volunteering for this opportunity.
  • Make a positive difference to a child, young person, and their family.
  • Use their creative skills.
  • Improve their confidence and self-esteem.

Overview of Service: 

Lancashire’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service offers support to children, Young people and families age 0-19+years, (0-25 Years for SEND) and their families. The service identifies as early as possible when a child, young person or family needs support.

Tasks:

All tasks are carried out under the supervision of a member of staff: 

  • Support and assist staff to run sessions and activities as required for the group
  • Help setting up the room for group work and tidying up afterwards
  • Help with building new skills, confidence and motivation
  • Engaging with groups for children, young people and their families
  • Help with supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Log volunteering hours online.

Training:

Training will be provided in the form of distance eLearning or trainer led.

Volunteers must have completed the required training before any activity can be undertaken and will be asked to regularly refresh training when required.

Mandatory training will include:

  • Child Sexual Exploitation
  • Data Security Awareness
  • Health & Safety
  • Preventing Radicalisation
  • Safeguarding Children Level 1

This opportunity is subject to a DBS.
