Group Support – The Zone in South Ribble

If you have a few hours to spare each week and are able to volunteer, this would be a great opportunity to consider. We are seeking volunteers to assist under supervision of a member of staff, to help those who access our services.

 

This opportunity will give a volunteer the chance to:

  • Gain experience from volunteering for this opportunity.
  • Make a positive difference to a child, young person, and their family.
  • Use their creative skills.
  • Improve their confidence and self-esteem.

 

Overview of the group the volunteer would support:

POUT (Tuesday/Friday 6.30pm – 9.30pm)
A group for young people aged 12 to 19 who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender. The group provides a safe and confidential space to come together to meet and share experiences. To get information, advice, and support on coming out, friendship, emotional well-being, identity, family relationships, etc.

 

This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

  • Applicants must be willing to go through an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (This will be done free of charge)
  • Once you have applied online one of our Volunteer Officers will be in contact to arrange your DBS

Tasks:

All tasks are carried out under the supervision of a member of staff: 

  • Support and assist staff to run sessions and activities as required for the group
  • Help setting up the room for group work and tidying up afterwards
  • Help with building new skills, confidence and motivation
  • Engaging with groups for young people in the community
  • Log volunteering hours on computer Better Impact account.

  • Reliable and committed to providing long term volunteering support

 

Training:

eLearning required for the role:

  • Child Sexual Exploitation
  • Data Security Awareness
  • Health, Safety and infection prevention
  • Prevent radicalisation
  • Resuscitation
  • Safeguarding Children Level 1

Training will be provided where necessary and may be in the form of peer support, distance learning or trainer led.

Volunteers must have completed the required training before any activity can be undertaken and may be asked to regularly refresh training where required.
