
Gardening Support – Vale View Day Centre
Do you love gardening?
We are seeking enthusiastic Gardening Support Volunteers to help support gardening tasks.
Older people services operate using quality services which are provided in a safe way for all residents, staff, volunteers, and visitors. The benefits of having a maintained area for their residents is essential to their person centred residential and daytime support Care.
This role is planned for Friday afternoons (weather dependent) and up to 3 hours per week. Garden and basic DIY skills are required
This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
- Applicants must be willing to go through an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (This will be done free of charge)
- Once you have applied online one of our Volunteer Officers will be in contact to arrange your DBS
Tasks:
- Be encouraged to assist residents to tend to small areas of the garden e.g. planting & maintaining spring/summer pots and baskets
- To include general maintenance and basic garden DIY
- Encourage and spend some time chatting to residents helping to combat feelings of loneliness
- Help to brighten up a resident’s day
- Log volunteering hours monthly on-line
Required Qualities:
- Knowledge of garden plants, gardening / planting / DIY
- Be good communicators

- Aware of confidentiality
Training:
Training will be provided in the form distance eLearning. Volunteers must have completed the required training before any activity can be undertaken and will be asked to regularly refresh training when required.
