
Fylde Adult Disability Day Service – Activity Support Volunteers
Do you have a few hours available to commit to supporting activities at Fylde Adult Disability Day Services?
Activities help to improve the health and wellbeing of the service users and residents and give them an opportunity to socialise and carry out a range of meaningful activities.
We are looking to run regular weekly sessions, however the day and time of these opportunities are flexible.
Please contact a member of staff at the Day Centre for further details before applying to ensure it’s suitable for you.
This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
- Applicants must be willing to go through an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (This will be done free of charge)
- Once you have applied online one of our Volunteer Officers will be in contact to arrange your DBS
Tasks:
- Spend some time chatting to residents/service users, helping them to combat their feelings of loneliness
- Encourage them to take part in the activities and offer support where appropriate
- Help to brighten up their day
- Log your volunteering hours monthly online
Required Qualities:
- Have the skills required to support the activity.
- Be a good listener & communicator
- Be committed to providing a good and reliable service
- Have patience and understanding
- Be friendly & approachable
- Have a caring and empathic nature
- Able to follow guidelines and regulations
- Aware of confidentiality issues
- Knowledge of helping those living with dementia would be an advantage
Training:
Training on Safeguarding will be provided in the form of distance eLearning. Volunteers must have completed the required training before any activity can be undertaken and will be asked to regularly refresh training when required.
