Engagement (Mealtime) Volunteers – Woodside
Older people services provide quality services in a safe way for all residents, staff, volunteers & visitors.
Their core purpose is person centred residential and daytime support for the people of Lancashire.
Each home takes care to ensure a range of activities are covered by carefully following a structured programme.
We are looking for Engagement volunteers to help out at Mealtimes – Setting the tables and sitting and chatting with the residents until lunch is served and perhaps after while the staff clear away. Mealtimes are between 12-2pm Lunch and 4-6pm Dinner.
This opportunity takes place at specific times, please check your availability before applying.
This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
- Applicants must be willing to go through an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (This will be done free of charge)
- Once you have applied online one of our Volunteer Officers will be in contact to arrange your DBS
Tasks:
- Encourage and spend some time chatting to residents helping to combat feelings of loneliness
- Help to brighten up a resident’s day
- Log volunteering hours monthly on-line.
- Complete training and commit to further training relevant to role
- Volunteers are required to have successfully passed essential training before starting
Required Qualities:
- Be a good communicator and listener

- Be committed and responsible
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines.
Training:
Training will be provided by eLearning and all modules must be successfully completed before any volunteering is allowed.
Training specific to the establishment will be provided on starting.
