Pamper and Beauty at Thornton House
Do you have a skill for ‘Pamper & Beauty’ that you would be willing to share with others?
We are seeking volunteers with pamper and beauty skills to encouraged residents to take part in beauty sessions and assist them with manicuring their nails. The volunteer would need to have the ability to offer residents therapeutic and relaxing hand massages and be able to offer make up days for the residents.
A pamper and beauty session activity not only shows someone that they are cared about, it can also provide them with a personal sense of improving their esteem.
Older people services operate using quality services which are provided in a safe way for all residents, staff, volunteers and visitors. Their core purpose is to provide high quality person centred residential and daytime support.
This volunteering role is subject to a DBS check. To qualify you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
- Applicants must be willing to go through an induction process with relevant background checks and an enhanced DBS check (This will be done free of charge)
- Once you have applied online one of our Volunteer Officers will be in contact to arrange your DBS
Days and times to be agreed with Lexie Smith, Thornton House manager.
Tasks:
As a Pamper and Beauty volunteer you will:
- Offer therapeutic and relaxing hand massages
- Offer make up days for the residents.
- Encourage and spend some time chatting to residents helping to combat feelings of loneliness
- You will Actively support, encourage and empower the service user to achieve specified and agreed goals and objectives
- Encourage and spend some time chatting to residents helping to combat feelings of loneliness
- Help to brighten up a resident’s day
- Log volunteering hours monthly on-line.
Required Qualities:
Pamper and Beauty Volunteers need to:
- Be good communicators
- Be committed
- Be patient
- Be empathetic
- Knowledge of Older People’s needs
- Dementia awareness
- Passionate about making older people feel good about themselves
- Have basic beauty and pampering skills
Training:
Safeguarding related training will be provided in the form of distance learning.
Volunteers must have completed the required training before any activity can be undertaken and will be asked to regularly refresh training when required.
