Lancashire Volunteer Partnership’s telephone befriending service is open to anyone who would welcome a regular, friendly chat. In these strangest of times when days can seem so much longer the feelings of isolation can be heightened.
You can refer yourself or someone you know into the service, we do ask if referring someone else you have a chat with them first and get their permission. Applying is as easy as 1, 2, 3…
1 – Applying
We have a short online application form available by clicking here. Alternatively you can call 01772 416417 between 8am-4pm Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays)
2- Telephone call
One of our team members will contact the person referred to chat about our service within 1-2 working days, check whether there are any immediate concerns you need assistance with e.g access to food/prescriptions. You will be given the name of the local Volunteer Officer who works in your area and the next step will be a call from them.
3 – Matching
Your local Volunteer Officer will call you and have a chat to ask about your interests and they will match you with someone in your local area with similar interests, they will arrange how often your volunteer telephone befriender will call and when this will be.
Your Volunteer Officer will remain a point of contact if you have any further questions.
We have heard from many of our volunteers who have enjoyed having someone new to talk to at an isolated time and we love hearing the difference our volunteers make to the people they befriend.
If you do have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
