LONG COVID PEER SUPPORT GROUP VOLUNTEER

The Long Covid Peer Support Group volunteer will be expected to lead/support and guide the session with participants. We are looking for someone that is comfortable and confident leading a session with a group of diverse individuals. The peer support group will  be a place for people with Long Covid symptoms to come together and share their story, participants  will hear from others that have been through Covid and are currently going through the journey of Long Covid.

DBS/references required for this position, DBS will be carried out by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council at no cost to the volunteer.

The group is held on Wednesday 1-3pm.

Tasks:

  • To offer support to people who have Long Covid
  • Set up for face to face/online sessions:
    • Room before the session starts
    • To be online 10mins before session starts
  • Make refreshments where necessary
  • Follow re:fresh annual plan to promote monthly campaigns
  • Use creative and innovative ways to engage people
  • Log volunteering hours via an on-line computer system

  • Ability to travel to various venues across the borough

Training:

  • Long Covid Peer Support Group Train the Trainer
  • Level 1 RSPH Health Awareness / MECC
  • Campaign specific (e.g. Winter health, Healthy eating, stop smoking)
  • Volunteer learning passport modules
  • Level 2 Understanding Health Improvement
  • Infection and Prevention Awareness for Front Line Staff
