
Activity Session Leader
The re:fresh service offers the people of Blackburn with Darwen the opportunity to access a huge range of leisure, health and well-being activities, sports activities, health and dietary advice plus much more.
We are seeking a Session Leader to volunteer with us who will:
- Be confident enough to develop the skills this role requires and who would be able to deliver physical activity sessions within the community
- Be confident in a session environment, this could be a sports and fitness session, or activities such as leading walks or running sessions.
- Offer a substantial commitment to delivering a session on a weekly basis.
This position requires an Enhanced DBS check and 2 references.
Previous experience of leading a group or support session volunteer role is beneficial.
Tasks:
- To lead a group activity
- To brief all participants at the start & end of the session
- To complete registers at every session
- To comply with all health & safety regulations and report any hazards or risks identified
- To complete all relevant training needed to be the activity leader
Required Qualities:
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Have a confident, friendly and approachable manner
- Reliable & Trustworthy
- Good time keeping skills
- Positive & enthusiastic
Training:
- Emergency First Aid course
- Level 2 RSPH Encouraging Physical Activity
- Specific fitness qualification e.g. Walk leader, Sports Leaders, Archery, Chair based exercise, ETM, Gym Instructor
- Volunteer Learning Passport modules
- Infection and Prevention Awareness
